We've officially joined a rapidly growing global community of like-minded organisations who are using business as a force for good. We're incredibly proud to be a certified B-Corp - acknowledging our efforts to put equal focus on our people, planet and profit for the benefit of all.
Certified B Corp - What does it mean?
This incredible milestone marks an exciting next step in our sustainability journey that began in 2019. Becoming a certified B Corp represents validation that our business strategy, practices and actions meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.
How did we do it?
It all started with our commitment to leading, running, measuring and improving our social and environmental impacts across our business model.
The certification process is holistic and rigorous, working at every aspect of our business, formalising processes and procedures, all while completing a robust assessment across 5 key areas:
Overall, we acheived an impact score of 88.1 points leading to our certified B Corp status.
(80 points behing the minimum score to achieve B Corp)
We attribute our B Corp certification to our strategic approach across our 6 sustainability pillars and here are some of the highlights / key achievements…
- Full carbon footprint - we have measured our scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon footprint, and we are ensuring 100% of our emissions are offset through offset programmes that have a positive environmental and social impact.
- We have a 100% green energy strategy and 100% Hybrid/EV strategy for company vehicles.
- We are improving our packaging strategy to eliminate single use plastic and achieve our goal of 100% recycled content for all packaging by 2025.
- Our product strategy ensures products are sourced and manufactured using recycled and environmentally accredited materials. 75% of our range is now eco.
- We increased the use of Oeko-Tex certified products that are produced with less harm to humans and the environment.
- We continue to work with our suppliers to improve environmental and social impacts, regularly completing SMETA 4-pillar audits - the highest standards in the industry.
- We have engaged with many customers to help and support them on their sustainability journeys.
- We improved our colleague offer through engagement programmes, well-being, benefits, training and colleague recognition awards.
- Our team of SER (Social and Environmental Responsibility) Stars from across the business help us embed sustainability into everything that we do.
- We implemented the Gift of Time programme, giving every employee one paid day to volunteer in their local community with a focus on charitable giving.
- We are hugely proud to have set up the Banner Foundation our own charity www.bannerfoundation.org.uk , using Banner's scale and influence to support charitable causes that directly benefit the lives of children and our environment.
